Chef Carlos Garcia Rodriguez is one of the most exciting young European chefs currently working in Asia and Test Kitchen are bringing him to Hong Kong for a three night only pop-up in March.

From March 24th – 26th, chef Carlos and his team will travel to Sai Ying Pun to share their brilliant food with us in a tasting menu.  His style of food is modern: influenced by his travels and cooking experience, yet still very much attached to his Spanish roots, while his techniques are mostly resolutely old school, born of years of Michelin-starred experience.

Our first encounter with chef Carlos was in Manila in the winter of 2015 when we had the opportunity to taste his prototype menu for TEST KITCHEN.  It was nothing short of brilliant.  His style of food is modern- influenced by his travels and cooking experience, yet still very much attached to his Spanish roots, while his techniques are mostly resolutely old school, born of years of experience.

In every TEST KITCHEN pop-up dinner, we bring our guests to a unique and hidden location, perhaps a place where they least expect to have a full on tasting menu from a talented upcoming chef from around the world.  There is no exception for this coming popup dinner with chef Carlos, here’s a preview-

Launching in March 2016, Warehouses on West is a new destination that combines culture, creativity, business and a sense of place under one roof. The strip of 8 warehouses is an alternative to the ordinary retail and office spaces and developers District15 plan to make the warehouses more than just a place to rent. The goal is to open up the space for a like-minded community of Food & Beverage Operators, Lifestyle Retailers, Creatives Agency’s and Galleries alike to also create an environment for cultural and social gatherings, and bring new energy to the neighborhood of Sai Ying Pun.

About Chef Carlos:

Carlos started his culinary career in his native Spain at Restaurante de Vinis, a one-Michelin star restaurant in Madrid before moving to London and honing his skills alongside acclaimed chef Alexis Gauthier at two one-Michelin star restaurants, firstly Roussillon and subsequently Gauthier.  As Head of menu development there, Carlos loved creating and developing new and innovative dishes for these award-winning London restaurants.

In common with many top chefs, he also loves to travel, explore, and learn, hence his move to the fast-developing culinary spot of Manila where he has opened the renowned Black Pig Charcuterie Bar and Restaurant. He loves the diversity and warm hospitality in Manila, with its unique Spanish links, and continues to be inspired to create modern, beautifully-conceptualized food.

In Hong Kong, quality cooking and first class ingredients are not enough to satisfy ever-changing palates. That’s why we created TEST KITCHEN.  A unique pop-up dining concept that allows the adventurous to experience food and drink like never before.

TEST KITCHEN’S goal is to provide a platform for local and global chefs to showcase their talent and express their life experiences in the form of Food and Drink.  We travel around the world throughout the year looking for up and coming talented chefs. We really get to know them through understanding their cooking philosophy and trying their unique dishes.  Each chef is hand picked by us and we work closely with them to make these popup dinners a true success.  Diners will be given an immersive and unique dining experience, as each popup dinner will be with a different chef at a unique location.  They are also given the opportunity to provide feedback to both the guest chef and TEST KITCHEN as part of this amazing experience.
